Sixty-five Current & Retired Elgin and St. Thomas Primary Care Providers Urge Community to Heed Public Health Advice
Group releases letter to the community about the importance of working together to flatten the curve of the COVID-19 pandemic
Southwestern Public Health has released a letter signed by sixty-five current and retired physicians and nurse practitioners working in Elgin County and St. Thomas. The two page letter encourages every community member to play their role in reducing the spread of infection by practicing physical (social) distancing.
“We are committed to this community and its residents. We want to continue to provide your health care and to watch you and your family thrive for years to come. To ensure that you stay healthy, that our system of care stays healthy, and that we as providers stay healthy, we need everyone to follow the guidance of public health,” asserts Dr. Kellie Scott, who organized the writing of the letter and is one of the letter’s signatories. “Now is the time to suspend all non-essential socializing or community outings,” she concludes.
