Dog bite incident in St. Thomas on August 7

Southwestern Public Health is seeking assistance in identifying a dog involved in a bite incident that occurred on August 7, 2025, at approximately 8 p.m., at the corner of Stanley Street and Wellington Street in St. Thomas.

The victim had previously seen the dog and its owner walking in the area, including on Gladstone Street and other streets near the courthouse. At the time of the incident, the victim passed by, reached to pet the dog, and was bitten.

The dog is described as a Bull Terrier (mostly white), wearing a black harness and on a leash. The owner is described as a boy, approximately 12–13 years old, around 4’10” tall, with blonde hair and glasses.

Please note that the dog and its owner are not in any trouble. We are trying to confirm the dog’s vaccination status to assess the risk of rabies exposure for the person who was bitten.

If you have any information about this dog or its owner, please contact Southwestern Public Health at 1-800-922-0096 and ask to speak with our Environmental Health Team.
