Dog bite incident in St. Thomas on July 9, 2025

Southwestern Public Health is seeking assistance in identifying a dog involved in a bite incident that occurred on July 9, 2025, at approximately 9:30 - 10 p.m. at the intersection of Fairview Avenue and Chestnut Street in St. Thomas.

The dog is described as a large, black and brown dog, potentially a German Sheppard. The dog did not have a leash on but was wearing a collar. The owner is described as a male, medium build, about 5'10 and in his mid-late 20’s. 

Please note that the dog and its owner are not in any trouble. We are trying to confirm the dog’s vaccination status to assess the risk of rabies exposure for the person who was bitten.
