Respiratory Syncytial Virus Infection
Protecting residents in long-term care settings from Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is essential, especially during RSV season. Vaccination is a key preventative measure that reduces the risk of severe illness and outbreaks in these environments.
Southwestern Public Health provides RSV vaccines to eligible providers in Oxford and Elgin counties. Below, you’ll find vaccine order forms tailored to your region, along with guidance on how to complete and submit your order.
High-risk older adult RSV vaccine program update:
- The 2024-2025 adult RSV program will continue into the spring and vaccines for eligible individuals are available through SWPH
Infant and high-risk children RSV prevention program update:
- The 2024-2025 infant and high-risk children RSV prevention program has ended and doses of Beyfortus and Abrysvo should no longer be ordered or administered to infants, children, or pregnant individuals
- To ensure protection through respiratory season, it is recommended children receive their dose of Beyfortus in the fall as the immunization offers 6 months of protection
- All remaining non-expired inventory is to be stored under appropriate cold chain for use next season in provider's offices
