Physical activity is necessary for a person’s physical, emotional, cognitive and social well-being. Regular physical activity can help to:

  • Improve heart and lung function
  • Make stronger bones and muscles
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Help to reduce stress and depression
  • Make you feel better
  • Decreases the risk of injury and falling
  • Connect you with friends and family
  • Improve focus and memory

Regular physical activity can also help reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases such as heart and stroke disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, some cancers (breast and colon), osteoporosis and arthritis. How active do you need to be for health benefits?
