Tools to Help You Quit

Thinking of quitting smoking? There are a few tools that can help you prepare for a quit attempt. Studies show that is may take up to 30 quit attempts before someone quits for good. Therefore, being prepared and thinking through your smoking triggers and behaviour is critical to success. Don’t give up!

  • Pregnets: Provides information for pregnant women who are wanting to quit smoking.
  • OHIP+: Quit smoking support for individuals age 24 and under with no private insurance. Individuals can access up to one year of pharmacist assisted counselling and prescription medication (18+) available for free.
  • Ontario Drug Benefits: Offers eligible individuals receiving Ontario Drug Benefits up to a year of pharmacist assisted counselling and prescription medication to quit smoking for free
  • Smokers’ Helpline: A free, confidential service operated by the Canadian Cancer Society offering support and information about quitting smoking and tobacco use. Services are offered by phone, email online and through text messaging.
