SWPH investigating a dog bite in St. Thomas on May 12
Southwestern Public Health is seeking help to identify a dog involved in a bite incident in St. Thomas this week.
The incident took place on May 12, 2026, at approximately 4 AM in the parking lot of Circle K located at 287 Talbot St, St Thomas, ON N5P 1B3.
The victim was petting the dog who was on a leash when the dog bit them. The dog is described as a large sized, tan in color and possibly a Pitbull mixed breed. The female owner of the dog is described being 5’ 6” in height, having shoulder length blonde hair, and being close to late 30s in age.
Public Health wants to confirm the vaccination status of the dog to allow the victim and their health care provider to determine next steps related to rabies post-exposure prophylaxis.
