Southwestern Public Health (SWPH) provides at-cost birth control, including free condoms and lube.

What birth control options does SWPH offer?

We offer a variety of birth control options, including:

• Free options: 

• Condoms and lube

• At-cost options:

• Birth control pills

• Birth control patches

• Vaginal rings

• Depo-Provera (birth control injection)

• IUD/IUS (intrauterine device/system)

How much does birth control cost?

The cost of birth control depends on the type. At SWPH, prices range from $9 to $34 for most options. 
Long-term reversible contraception (like IUD/IUS - intrauterine devices) can also be purchased at cost. Condoms are free!
Here’s what you need to know:

• Payment options: We accept cash, debit, and credit card payments. SWPH does not accept drug benefit plans or OW drug plans.

• Need help with costs? If you’re struggling to afford birth control, talk to us. We’re here to help you explore your options.

• For those without private insurance: If you’re under 24, you might be eligible for free birth control through pharmacies with OHIP+. Contact us to learn more.

How do I choose the right birth control?

Choosing birth control is a personal decision. The right option depends on your lifestyle, health needs, and future plans.

• Talk to us or your healthcare provider: Book an appointment at one of our clinics to discuss your needs and options. 

What if I need emergency birth control?

Emergency birth control can help prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex.
If you need it:

• Act quickly: Emergency birth control works best the sooner it’s taken after unprotected sex.

• Visit a pharmacy or our clinic: Pharmacies and clinics can provide emergency birth control.

• Learn more through the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC).
