The Healthy Babies Healthy Children program is a free service for families who are pregnant or have young children up to school age. This Ontario-wide program supports your family’s health, and you don’t need your health card to use it.
This program connects you with a Public Health Nurse or a parent resource worker who provides helpful information, resources, and referrals to support your family. Some of the ways they can help include a follow-up phone call after your baby is born and home visits for extra support and guidance.
This free program can help you:
Have a healthy pregnancy
Build a positive bond with your child
Support your child’s growth and development
Find helpful resources and programs in your community
Get your child off to a good start in life
For more information on the program, check out the Healthy Babies Healthy Children program by the Ministry of Ontario.
You may qualify for the program if:
You are pregnant
You’ve recently given birth
You have a child under school age
To join the Healthy Babies Healthy Children program, you can complete an online self-referral form or ask your healthcare provider (like a family doctor, midwife, or OB-GYN) to refer you to the program.
The Nurse-Family Partnership® is a free service that brings a public health nurse to your home to support you through your first pregnancy and into early parenting.
If you join, you’ll be matched with a nurse who will guide you with advice, health tips, and parenting skills to help you have a healthy pregnancy and feel confident as a new parent.
You may qualify for the Nurse-Family Partnership if you are:
Pregnant with your first child or preparing to parent for the first time
Less than 28 weeks pregnant
Facing social or financial challenges
Living in Elgin County, Oxford County, or the City of St. Thomas
