Results from beach water quality tests are reported weekly from June through September

On June 5, Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a Special Air Quality Statement for areas of Ontario, including Elgin County and Oxford County due to smoke from ongoing wildfires in parts of Northern Ontario and other areas in Canada. 

A measles-related fatality was reported today by Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health. The case was from the Southwestern Public Health region. 

In recognition of World No Tobacco Day on May 31, Southwestern Public Health is encouraging individuals to look beyond the marketing and packaging of tobacco and nicotine products and consider the powerful benefits of living smoke and vapour-free.

Starting today, Southwestern Public Health is booking appointments for first-dose measles vaccines dedicated to infants aged 6 to 11 months throughout the month of March. 

We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our colleague, Dr. Malcolm Lock, who most recently served as Acting Medical Officer of Health at neighbouring health unit, Grand Erie Public Health.
