Southwestern Public Health Service Opportunity

Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program – Denturist
Service Opportunity Status – OPEN
Closing Date – Open until Filled

Southwestern Public Health is inviting prospective service providers to submit expressions of interest to provide services in conjunction with SWPH’s Oral Health Team. The Service Provider will provide professional denturist services on an as needed, infrequent basis to serve our Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program (OSDCP) clients in the Oxford County, Elgin County, and City of St. Thomas public health dental clinics.

This service provider will include, but not be limited to the following areas of expertise:
  • Designing denture treatment plans for clients of OSDCP SWPH
  • Measuring client’s jaws to determine the size and shape of dentures required
  • Taking clinical dental impressions
  • Designing and constructing partial and full dentures
  • Fitting and adjusting new dentures
  • Rebasing and relining dentures
  • Altering and repairing dentures
  • Adhering to Infection Prevention and Control Practices (IPAC) to ensure client safety.
  • Respecting and valuing the diversity of clients and targeted communities.
  • Preserving confidentiality of SWPH’s clients.

The successful service provider must be a single legal entity (incorporated) that, will enter into a service agreement with SWPH. SWPH will review submissions and evaluate expressions of interest as they are submitted.

Any person providing denturist services on behalf of the service provider shall:
  • Currently be registered as a Denturist through the College of Denturists of Ontario (CDO).
  • Be a graduate of a Canadian Denturist program and licensed to practice as a Denturist and in good standing with the College of Denturists of Ontario.
  • Adheres to principles, standards, professional/personal boundaries, and codes of conduct established by the College of Denturists of Ontario and organizational policies.
  • Has completed a minimum of two years’ experience in an active dental practice and/or denture clinic. Experience in the fabrication and insertion of dentures.
  • Their education and experience must be complemented by knowledge of current clinical techniques and procedures, including Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and infection control measures and procedures.
  • Maintain active certification in Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) Basic First Aid.
  • Availability to work in various locations under flexible hours and days of the week. Ability to work weekend and evenings as required by the program.
  • Be fully vaccinated and received at least one booster dose for COVID-19 and provide valid proof of vaccination to SWPH. Fully vaccinated for this purpose includes two doses of a multi-dose COVID-19 vaccination series approved by Health Canada, plus at least one booster dose. 
  • Provide a criminal reference check completed within the last six months from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), inclusive of vulnerable sector screening, will be required.
  • Possess a valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable access to an insured working vehicle.
  • Must obtain and maintain in good standing professional malpractice liability insurance with a minimum coverage of $2 million per occurrence and $5 million in the aggregate, as well as all other insurance as required by the College of Denturists of Ontario (CDO).
