Child Care Centres
Under the Ontario Health Protection and Promotion Act, Southwestern Public Health works with licensed child care centres across Oxford County, Elgin County and the City of St. Thomas to inspect child care facilities and investigate infectious disease outbreaks.
In this section, you will find information and resources for child care centres on the following topics:
- Child safety
- Cleaning and disinfection
- Outbreak management
- Preventing infection in child care settings
- Reporting illness
- Weather alerts and extreme weather guidelines
Food in child care centres
Ontario Dietitians in Public Health (ODPH) have developed child care resources to support child care providers in planning and preparing foods to serve. These resources will help providers meet the food and drink requirements set out in the Child Care and Early Years Act: section 42 of Ont. Reg. 137/15.
These resources may be used for non-commercial purposes as long as they are not altered in any way. For more information, reach out to healthyeating@swpublichealth.ca.
