A file search looks for any outstanding requirements against a variety of businesses inspected by a Public Health Inspector. A File Search Request must be made 14 business days prior to the closing date and include the current Owners consent.

Law offices may request a file search for the following types of businesses:

  • food premises (commercial kitchen that serves food to the public)
  • seasonal farm worker housing
  • public recreational water (swimming pools, spas, and hot tubs)
  • public facilities with a well (i.e., campgrounds, trailer parks)
  • personal services settings (hair salons, nail salons, tattoo shops, barber shops)
  • licensed daycares, group homes, lodging homes, retirement homes, long term care facilities
  • premises regulated by the Smoke Free Ontario Act

Below is a map showing the area Southwestern Public Health covers to assist you in determining if we are the correct health unit to reach out to with your request.
