SWPH Seeks Dog Involved in Tillsonburg Biting Incident
Southwestern Public Health wants to identify a dog that bit someone on June 19th at approximately 6:30 p.m. near the corner of Quarter Town Line and Concession in Tillsonburg. The dog owner is described as a young/teenaged boy wearing a white t-shirt. The owner had brown/blond hair. The dog is described as medium sized black and grey with shaggy hair – likely a mixed breed. As the victim was walking past the owner and their dog, the dog turned and bite the individual on the ankle.
Identifying the dog and learning its vaccination status allows the victim and their health care provider to determine next steps related to rabies post-exposure prophylaxis (rabies vaccine you take to prevent rabies after a bite). If you are the dog owner or know this dog, please contact Southwestern Public Health at 1-800-922-0096 and ask to speak to a Public Health Inspector.
