Southwestern Public Health Region Broadens COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility to Include Those 55+
In alignment with today’s provincial announcement, eligibility will expand to 55+ this week and 50+ the following week.
As of April 30, at 8am, residents of Oxford County, Elgin County and the City of St. Thomas can book a COVID-19 vaccine provided they are turning fifty-five or older in 2021.

“Those in their 50s are often supporting elderly parents, involved with their own children or grandchildren, and working. There are many possible points of exposure and so we are very pleased that vaccine eligibility has opened this week to those who are 55+. We’ve got three clinics in operation and we’re looking forward to welcoming you through our doors over the coming weeks,” Dr. Joyce Lock, Medical Officer of Health, Southwestern Public Health.
During the week of May 3, individuals aged 50+ and some specific groups who can not work from home will become eligible. For residents of identified hot spots, such as the N5H postal code, individuals 18+ will also become eligible.

Individuals who are 60+ and having difficulty with the booking system are welcome to add their name to the region’s “Help List.” Southwestern Public Health staff assist those on the list with appointment booking. The Help List can be found at: https://forms.swpublichealth.ca/COVID-19-Help-List or access it by calling 1-800-922-0096 x 9 and leaving a message.
