New gathering limits set at 5 people indoors, 25 people outdoors; additional restrictions for select businesses
On February 16, the Province will move Elgin County, Oxford County and the City of St. Thomas into the Red-Control zone of Ontario’s COVID-19 Response Framework based on local data and transmission risks.
While there is no longer a Stay-At-Home order in place, residents of the region are reminded that staying home is still the best way to protect themselves and their community from COVID-19.

Cold temperatures expected from February 9 through February 14Southwestern Public Health issues cold weather alerts when Environment Canada forecasts an air temperature below -15˚C or a wind chill below -20˚C.

SWPH Completes First Dose Vaccinations in High-Risk Retirement Home Residents

Southwestern Public Health has achieved another milestone in Ontario’s COVID-19 vaccination strategy. On January 29, the health unit completed all first dose vaccinations for eligible residents in high-risk retirement homes across the region.
More than 170 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine were administered over three days with the support of staff and administration from the high-risk retirement homes and by the Southwestern Public Health COVID-19 Immunization Task Force.

Southwestern Public Health has accomplished a key milestone in its COVID-19 immunizations strategy with the successful completion of first doses for all eligible long-term care home residents in the region.

Yesterday, PeopleCare Tavistock resident Earl Morrison was one of the first long-term care home residents in the region to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
